Cheap flights Warsaw to Urumqi

January is the cheapest month for this route, and the price calendar also shows fares for September, October, November, December and July. Late autumn and early winter are quiet, while July sits in the middle of the summer peak, when seats fill early and connections through Europe get tight. Midweek departures usually cost less than weekend ones. The days around the winter holidays and the Lunar New Year travel rush are the ones to avoid if you can be flexible, and for summer travel it pays to book well ahead rather than watch the fare climb.

Every option here connects: LOT Polish Airlines is the natural pick from Warsaw, while Lufthansa, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Austrian, Finnair and Scandinavian Airlines route you through their own European hubs. Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai send you south through Istanbul, Doha and Dubai, and Air China is the Chinese carrier in the mix. Fly Dubai is the low-cost name on the list, so check what your fare includes before you compare it with a full-service ticket, since the others usually bundle a checked bag and meals on the long-haul legs. If you book the legs separately, the connection is yours to make.

Urumqi has one main airport, and it sits well outside the city centre, so build in time for the transfer instead of expecting to walk out of arrivals into town. Taxis and airport buses are the usual ways in; use the official rank and have your hotel address written down for the driver. Arrivals from Europe can land late at night, so check whether public transport is still running before you count on it. Immigration on a full wide-body takes a while, and your onward plans should leave room for that.
