Cheap flights from Warsaw to Makassar

December comes out cheapest in the fare data for this route, and the months around it are worth comparing too: September, October, November, January and February all carry fares, with April and July tracked as well. April and July line up with school breaks and the European summer, so those seats go early. Midweek departures from Warsaw tend to undercut weekend ones, and Polish holiday periods fill quickly. On the Makassar side, the wetter months fall in the European winter, so weigh a lower fare against a rainier arrival.

The airlines selling this route split into two groups. Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Fly Dubai connect you through the Gulf, and Fly Dubai is the low-cost name among them. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Swiss, Austrian, British Airways and Helvetic Airways route you through their European bases instead. None of them fly Warsaw to Makassar non-stop, so every option is a connection, and the number of stops and the length of the layover matter more than the first flight you see.

You land at Hasanuddin, the airport serving Makassar and the surrounding regency. It sits outside the built-up area, so plan on a transfer rather than a walk to your hotel. Taxis, ride-hailing apps and airport buses are the usual ways into town, and it helps to settle the fare or open the app before you get in. Traffic in Makassar can be heavy, especially towards evening, so leave slack if you are travelling onward by land or sea. Keep your onward booking details handy if your bags were tagged through from Warsaw.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check whether your Warsaw departure is from F. Chopin or Modlin, because the city has two airports and they are not interchangeable.
• If any leg is on a low-cost ticket, add the baggage you actually need before you pay, not at the gate.
• When a connection is sold as two separate tickets, a delay on the first flight becomes your problem, so leave a long buffer.
• Confirm your passport and any visa or entry requirements for Indonesia well before departure.
• December is the cheapest month in the data, but book early if you are tied to April or July.
