Cheap flights from Warsaw to Surat Thani

March is the cheapest month for this route, and it lines up with the end of the dry season in southern Thailand, so you get lower fares without the worst of the heat. Prices start appearing for October and run right through the European winter — November is quiet, December and January are not, because that is when everyone in Poland wants to escape the cold. Fly midweek rather than at the weekend if you can, and book well ahead for travel around Christmas, New Year and the Thai holidays in spring, when the connecting legs fill up first.

No airline flies Warsaw to Surat Thani nonstop, so every option is a connecting itinerary. The Gulf carriers — Emirates, Etihad Airways and Fly Dubai — route you through their hubs and often sell the whole trip on one ticket, which matters if a delay eats your connection. LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss and Helvetic Airways connect through European hubs instead, which can mean a shorter first leg and a longer second one. What is included depends on the fare, not just the airline: compare checked baggage, seat selection and whether the date can be changed, because the lowest fares on the Gulf carriers often leave a hold bag out.

Surat Thani airport is the only airport serving the province, and it lies outside the city itself, so count on a road transfer rather than a walk to your hotel. Transfers into town are usually shared vans or taxis, and some travellers carry straight on to the coast or the islands rather than staying in Surat Thani. If your onward leg is booked separately, leave a generous gap after landing — a delayed connection in Europe or the Gulf is the usual reason people miss it. For late arrivals, confirm the transfer before you fly, because the options thin out once the last flights are in.

• Decide which Warsaw airport you fly from, because F. Chopin and Modlin are not interchangeable and switching between them takes time.
• Check whether checked baggage is included, since the lowest fares on this route often cover a cabin bag only.
• If your connection is on two separate tickets, allow a long stop — a missed leg is yours to pay for again.
• Confirm your passport and any entry requirements for Thailand are valid for your travel dates.
• Book early for December, January and the holidays, and look at March if you want the lowest fares.
• Make sure the airport on your ticket is the one you want, since Surat Thani has a single airport.
