Cheap flights from Warsaw to Palermo

September is the cheapest month to fly this route, and it also brings warm sea temperatures and thinner crowds in Palermo. Spring and early autumn are comfortable for sightseeing, while high summer is hot and busy, and the winter months are mild but quieter. Midweek departures usually cost less than weekend ones, especially on low-cost carriers. Book well ahead for the summer peak and around Christmas, New Year and Easter, when seats on both direct and connecting flights fill up quickly. If your dates are flexible, compare a few weeks either side of your plan.

Several airlines serve this route. Ryanair, Wizz Air and Wizz Air Malta are the low-cost options, with basic fares that usually include only a small cabin bag, so add checked luggage and seat selection to the total. LOT Polish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, KLM Cityhopper, Austrian, Swiss and Aegean Airlines are full-service carriers, often connecting through their hubs, with a cabin bag included and a more flexible ticket. Mokulele Flight Service also appears among the carriers on this route. Direct flights are available, but not every airline flies non-stop, so check the itinerary before you choose.

Palermo's Punta Raisi airport sits west of the city, a short drive from the centre along the coast road. The usual ways into town are the bus, the rail link that runs to the central station, a taxi, or a hire car if you plan to explore Sicily. Allow extra time in the evening rush and in summer, when traffic builds along the approach. Taxis are metered, but agree the fare or check the meter before you set off. If you arrive late, check that your bus or train still runs, and keep small change handy for the ticket machine.
