Cheap flights from Vigo to Istanbul

Istanbul's weather and daylight change sharply through the year, so match your trip to the season you actually want rather than the cheapest month alone. April is the lowest-priced month in the dated fares shown here, while October to May is the period covered by the price calendar. Winter days are short and summer heat can be heavy, so spring and autumn often suit both walking and price. Book earlier for school holidays and Christmas, and compare a few nearby dates because connection times and baggage rules can matter as much as the fare.

The difference you feel is between a fare that includes checked baggage, meals and seat selection and one that charges for each extra, so read the fare rules before you compare. Air Nostrum, Iberia, Air Europa, Air Europa express, Vueling Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air France and Royal Air Maroc appear on this route, and none of them is a nonstop from Vigo, so every itinerary connects. The connection airport and transfer time can change the real cost of the trip, and the fare you pick should be judged on what it includes rather than the headline price alone.

Arrange which Istanbul airport you are flying into before you book, because Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gokcen sit on different sides of the city and your onward transport will differ. Both are outside the centre, so allow time for metro, bus, taxi or airport shuttle, and check whether your hotel is closer to one side of the Bosphorus than the other. Watch for late-night arrivals, terminal changes on a connection, and the need to reach the city after public transport has thinned.
