Cheap flights from Vienna to Rzeszow

February is the cheapest month on this route, and the fares shown here run from September through March, so the whole cold season is worth checking. Late autumn and January tend to be quiet, while the weeks around Christmas and New Year fill up fast with people flying home to Poland. Midweek departures are usually lighter than Friday and Sunday, when weekend traffic peaks. Book a few weeks ahead for winter travel, and watch the calendar as your dates get closer.

Lufthansa, Austrian, LOT Polish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, TAP Portugal, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa Cityline and Braathens Regional Aviation all appear among the options, and the mix is network and regional carriers rather than low-cost airlines. That matters when you compare: your itinerary may pair two carriers, with one airline flying the first leg and another the second. What is included in the fare depends on the ticket each carrier sells, so read the conditions before you pay.

Rzeszow is served by Jasionka, a small regional airport outside the city rather than a major hub. Ground transport is thinner than at a capital's airport, so check what runs at your landing time before you commit to a late arrival; a taxi or a pre-booked transfer is the straightforward option. On the Vienna side every flight leaves from Schwechat Intl, the city's only airport, so there is no second airport to mix up. If your connection is tight, plan the last leg into town in advance.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check that you are flying from Schwechat Intl, Vienna's only airport, so there is no alternative to fall back on.
• Confirm whether your connection is on one ticket or two, because a missed self-transfer is your problem, not the airline's.
• Look at what the fare includes on each leg, since the carriers on your itinerary may apply different baggage rules.
• Carry a valid passport or national identity card for Poland, and check it is valid for your whole stay.
• Compare February fares with the months either side before you book, since that is where the calendar tends to dip.
• Leave enough time between flights if you are changing planes, as the route has no nonstop option.
