Cheap flights from Verona to Warsaw

March is the cheapest month to fly this route, and the price calendar covers most of the year, from September through May. Winter and early spring are quieter at both ends, while summer and the Christmas period push fares up. Midweek departures on Tuesday and Wednesday usually cost less than Friday or Sunday flights. Watch Polish school holidays and Italian public holidays around Easter and the start of May, when seats fill early. If you can be flexible, book a few weeks ahead for spring travel and earlier still for the summer peak.

Wizz Air and Wizz Air Malta are the low-cost carriers you will see most on this route, with Volotea, Transavia Airlines and Jet2 also selling seats. Lufthansa, Air Dolomiti and Aer Lingus are the full-service names, usually selling connecting itineraries through their hubs rather than a nonstop flight. Neos Air and El Al Israel Airlines also appear among the carriers listed for the route, so check who actually operates your flight. What is included differs: low-cost fares cover little beyond your seat and a small cabin bag, while full-service tickets bundle more into the price. A connection booked as separate tickets is not protected if the first flight runs late.

Warsaw has two airports, and they are not interchangeable. F. Chopin sits close to the city centre, a short ride by bus, tram or taxi, which makes it the easier arrival for most travellers. Modlin is well outside town to the north, and getting in means a dedicated shuttle bus or a longer taxi ride, so allow extra time. Check which airport your ticket names before you book ground transport, and remember that a low-cost fare into Modlin can cost you more in transfer time than a slightly higher fare into Chopin.

• Check which Warsaw airport your ticket uses, F. Chopin or Modlin, because the transfer into town is very different.
• Add up the baggage you need on low-cost fares before comparing, since a cabin bag only is often the base price.
• Book connections on one ticket where you can, so a delay does not leave you buying a new flight.
• Carry a valid passport or identity card for Poland and check the entry rules that apply to you.
• Compare fares across the price calendar, since March is usually the cheapest month and summer costs more.
• Confirm the departure airport in Verona and the terminal on your booking before you leave for the airport.
