Cheap flights from Verona to Krakow

February is the cheapest month on this route, and the price calendar lists fares for September through April and June, so autumn and late winter are the value windows. Summer and the run-up to Christmas are when seats cost most, and school breaks push them higher still. Midweek departures are usually quieter than Friday and Sunday, so a flexible date is worth more than a flexible airline. Book a few weeks ahead for winter travel, and check the calendar before you lock in a date.

Wizz Air, Wizz Air Malta, Jet2 and Easyjet are the low-cost names on Verona to Krakow, and they sell the seat and little else — cabin bags and checked luggage cost extra. Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa, ITA Airways, Air France, Finnair and El Al Israel Airlines are full-service, so a bag and a snack usually come with the fare, but their routings often pass through a hub instead of flying you straight there. Direct flights do run on this route; on a single connecting ticket the airline looks after a missed connection, while two separate low-cost tickets leave that problem with you.

Krakow's Balice airport sits outside the city, so the transfer into the centre takes a while by road — build in time on arrival day. A train and buses run between the terminal and the city, and taxis and ride-hailing apps wait outside arrivals. Late landings can mean the last buses have gone, so check the timetable against your arrival time before you count on public transport.

• Confirm your departure airport and terminal on the booking, since Verona's airport handles all the city's flights.
• Check what the low-cost fare includes, because cabin bags and checked luggage are paid extras on Wizz Air, Jet2 and Easyjet.
• If your trip is two separate tickets, leave a long gap between flights, since a missed connection is yours to fix.
• Make sure your passport or identity card is valid for travel to Poland, and check the entry rules before you fly.
• Look at the price calendar before you fix a date, as February fares sit below the summer ones.
