Cheap flights from Shannon to Wroclaw

Demand on this route follows the calendar of family visits and school breaks rather than a beach season, so expect fares to rise around Christmas and the mid-term holidays. November is the cheapest month on the route among the ones priced here, with October through April all shown in the calendar. Booking a few weeks ahead and staying flexible on the day of the week is what moves the fare on a low-cost route like this one.

What you feel first is the difference between a ticket that includes baggage and one that treats it as an add-on. Ryanair is the low-cost option with the direct flight from Shannon, and its base fare covers little else than your seat, so bags and seat choice are paid separately. Aer Lingus is the full-service home carrier, while United Airlines, Swiss and Lufthansa sell connecting itineraries through their own hubs. On those, checked baggage is more often part of the fare, but you trade the nonstop flight for a change of plane.

Before you land, sort out how you will cover the last stretch: Wroclaw airport, Strachowice, sits outside the city, so the first hour of your trip is a transfer into the centre rather than a walk out of the terminal. Buses connect the airport with the city and taxis or rideshares wait outside arrivals, which is worth remembering if you land late. Check before departure how you plan to pay on board, since some Polish transport options are cash-friendly but not card-friendly everywhere.

• Confirm whether your ticket is a single booking or two separate ones, because a missed connection on separate tickets is yours to solve.
• Check the baggage rules before you pay, since the direct low-cost fare includes far less than a connecting full-service fare.
• Verify that your documents are valid for entry to Poland and that any connecting country's transit rules also apply to you.
• Compare the same trip across October to April in the calendar, as November tends to price lowest.
• If you land in the evening, plan the airport transfer into Wroclaw in advance rather than on arrival.
