Cheap flights from Shannon to Chisinau

The costly stretch is the destination's summer and the school holidays, when seats into Chisinau fill early. Work back from that and the picture changes: August is the cheapest month on this route, which is worth knowing if your dates are flexible. Prices on this page cover October through March as well as August, so you can see how fares move across the colder months. Around Christmas expect fuller planes and higher fares, and midweek departures usually leave you more room to pick a comfortable connection than weekend ones.

What you feel first is the service level. Aer Lingus and United Airlines run full-service operations, so checked baggage and a proper seat usually come with the ticket, while Eurowings Discover sits closer to the leisure-carrier model where extras are priced separately. None of the three flies this route nonstop, so every itinerary includes a connection — Aer Lingus typically routes through Dublin, United through its own hub, and Eurowings Discover through a German one. Compare what each fare includes before you add bags, because a slightly dearer ticket can work out lighter on the total.

Getting into Chisinau is one of the easier parts of this trip. The airport sits close to the city, so the transfer into the centre is short by taxi or minibus, and marshrutkas run along the main road for those travelling light. Taxis wait outside arrivals; agree on the fare or use a ride app before setting off. Have some local currency or a card that works abroad, since not every driver takes cards. The terminal is compact, so after a long connection you will be moving quickly — passport control, baggage, and out into the arrivals hall within minutes.

• Check whether baggage is included in the fare, since Eurowings Discover prices extras separately while Aer Lingus and United Airlines usually do not.
• Confirm your connection is on one ticket, because Shannon has no alternative flights to fall back on if you miss the transfer.
• Check the layover length carefully, as every itinerary on this route involves a change and tight turns are risky.
• Look at the months with dated prices — August is the cheapest here, but October through March may fit your plans better.
• Check Moldova's entry requirements for your nationality before booking, including passport validity rules.
