Cheap flights from Nice to Poznan

October is the cheapest month on this route, and it comes with mild autumn weather in both Nice and Poznan. Fares also stay reasonable through late spring and early winter, so compare May and the stretch from September through January before you lock in dates. Midweek departures are usually quieter and cheaper than Friday or Sunday flights, when weekend traffic fills the connecting legs. Watch French school holidays and Polish public holidays, which lift prices at both ends, and book further ahead if you are flying around Christmas or the New Year.

Nothing flies non-stop between Nice and Poznan, so every airline here sells a connecting itinerary. Easyjet is the low-cost name on the route: the fare covers a seat and a small cabin bag, with checked luggage and seat choice charged separately. The full-service carriers, LOT Polish Airlines, Air France, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, Iberia, ITA Airways, Edelweiss Air, Air Baltic and HOP!, usually include a checked bag and refreshments, and they can rebook you when a connection is missed. That protection is the real difference: a ticket routed through a hub such as Warsaw, Zurich or Brussels costs more than pairing two low-cost legs, but it holds together if the first flight runs late.

Poznan's airport is Lawica, a compact terminal a short drive from the city centre. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the quickest way in, and public buses connect the terminal with the centre through the day, so you rarely need to plan far ahead. Because the airport is small, arrivals and baggage reclaim move quickly and you can be in town soon after landing. If your itinerary ends with an evening arrival, check the last bus times before you book, and keep in mind that a delay on your first leg pushes everything back. On the way out, allow extra time if you are checking a bag on a low-cost ticket.

• Confirm both legs sit on one ticket, since separate bookings leave you unprotected if the first flight is delayed.
• Check the baggage allowance on Easyjet and any other low-cost leg, where cabin-only fares are common.
• Look at the layover length in each hub, because a tight connection is the main risk on this route.
• Carry a passport or identity card that Poland accepts and check its validity for your nationality.
• Fly in October for the lowest fares, and compare September, November, December, January and May first.
• Arrange your transfer from Lawica into Poznan in advance if you land late in the evening.
