Cheap flights from Newcastle to Malta

October tends to offer lower fares before the winter season picks up. School breaks and the summer holiday period bring higher demand on this Mediterranean route, so booking well ahead helps if you plan to travel during those busy weeks. Mid-week departures often cost less than weekend flights regardless of when you go.

Low-cost carriers like Easyjet, Jet2 and Ryanair operate direct services with basic fares that charge extra for checked bags and seat selection. Full-service airlines including British Airways, Lufthansa and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines include more in their standard tickets while Norwegian International offers a mid-range option between the two models.

Luqa airport sits relatively close to Malta's capital Valletta, making ground transport quick compared to larger hubs. Buses run regularly into town while taxis provide door-to-door service for those with heavy luggage or late arrivals.

• Confirm which terminal Newcastle uses since some airlines operate from different gates at the same airport.
• Check whether your fare includes checked baggage if you plan more than hand luggage on low-cost carriers.
• Verify document requirements when entering Malta, especially passport validity rules for UK citizens after Brexit.
• Read connection details carefully if booking separate tickets rather than one through ticket with a single airline.
• Consider that summer months fill up faster so book earlier during peak travel season.
