Cheap flights from Nanning to Warsaw

November is the cheapest month on this route, and the price calendar runs from September through February, so the value sits in the shoulder weeks before the Christmas rush and again after the New Year. Warsaw is cold and dark from late autumn, while Nanning stays mild and humid, so you are packing for two climates in one trip. Midweek departures tend to cost less than weekend ones, and fares climb when you fly on the holidays themselves — Chinese New Year at one end, Christmas and New Year at the other. If your dates are fixed around those, book well ahead.

Juneyao Airlines, Air China, China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and Scoot all serve this route. Scoot is the low-cost carrier in that list, so its fares come stripped back, with bags, seat choice and meals sold as extras. The Chinese carriers are full-service, and checked baggage and meals normally come with the ticket. None fly Nanning to Warsaw non-stop, so what you are comparing is the connection: where it happens, how long it lasts, and whether your bags are checked all the way through or you have to collect and re-check them. A single ticket covering both legs is easier to handle if a delay threatens the connection.

Warsaw has two airports. F. Chopin is the main one, close to the centre and the usual arrival point for long-haul itineraries; Modlin sits further out and handles mostly the lower-cost end of the market. From F. Chopin you can get into town by train, bus or taxi in a fairly short ride, while Modlin is served by dedicated bus and rail connections timed around flight arrivals. Check which airport your ticket actually names, because they are not interchangeable, and think about what a late arrival leaves you with for getting to your accommodation.

• Confirm which Warsaw airport your ticket lands at, since F. Chopin and Modlin are far apart and not interchangeable.
• Check whether checked baggage is included, especially if you book the low-cost fare.
• Make sure a connecting itinerary is on one ticket, or leave enough time to collect and re-check bags if it is not.
• Check passport, visa and transit requirements for Poland and for every country you pass through.
• Look at the price calendar before fixing dates, since November is cheapest and the winter holidays push fares up.
• Plan for a long overall journey with a layover, and pick a connection you can sit through comfortably.
