Cheap flights from Mersin to Berlin

The weeks around December, such as late November and early January, are often the first place to look for lower fares, and December itself is the cheapest month shown for this route. Outside that window, school holidays, Christmas and Berlin's summer can all push prices up. Weekday departures are usually cheaper than weekend ones, and flight times can change the fare, so compare a few dates rather than one. Book early for busy travel periods, since the lowest fares are the first to go.

All four airlines on this route sell connecting tickets, so the real difference is how the journey is put together: one booking with one set of rules, or separate tickets with separate check-in. Pegasus, Sun Express, Ajet and Turkish Airlines can each appear on Mersin to Berlin fares; compare connection time, what the fare includes and how bags are handled before you book. A lower base fare can stop being cheap once a checked bag, seat or change fee is added.

If you land at BrBrandenburg Airport late in the day, the first thing that changes is how you leave the airport: trains, buses and other onward transport do not run with the same frequency after daytime hours. BrBrandenburg is outside central Berlin, so plan the transfer before you fly, check the last departures into the city and allow time for baggage reclaim and passport control. If your itinerary has a connection, a late arrival can also make the next leg harder to catch, so leave enough buffer between flights.

• Confirm the ticket names Cukurova Airport for departure and BrBrandenburg Airport for arrival.
• Check baggage rules for every airline on the itinerary, including size limits and whether a checked bag is included.
• Check passport validity and German entry requirements before you book.
• Check whether your connection is on one ticket or separate tickets, because that changes who protects a missed flight.
• Check the connection time is realistic for a change of plane and for passport control.
• Check season and holiday dates around your chosen week, since December is cheapest but Christmas can raise fares.
