Cheap flights from Manchester to Palermo

Booking early gives you the widest choice of fares, and November is the cheapest month on the calendar for this route. Prices are listed from October through to September, so you can compare the whole year at a glance. The Sicilian summer draws the biggest crowds, and British school holidays push demand up from both ends, while late autumn and winter sit noticeably calmer. Midweek departures tend to be easier on the wallet than weekend ones.

Connections come first: Vueling Airlines, Swiss, Edelweiss Air, Brussels Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air Baltic, Portuguese carrier Portug and Norwegian International all route you through their home hubs, which adds hours to the journey but widens your fare options. Jet2 and Easyjet cover the direct leg, and as low-cost carriers they charge separately for hold luggage and seat selection, so what looks like a bargain fare can grow once you add bags. The full-service names on the connecting routes typically include baggage in the ticket price, which is worth weighing against the extra travel time.

Sort out your transfer plan before you land at Punta Raisi, the airport that serves Palermo. It sits outside the city, and the usual ways into town are the train link, airport buses and taxis, with car hire available if you plan to explore Sicily beyond the capital. Allow extra time if you arrive late in the evening, when public transport options thin out. Have your accommodation address handy for the driver or the ticket desk.
