Cheap flights from London to Tirgu Mures

Lock your dates before you start comparing, and give the booking as much lead time as your plans allow — the low fares on a given flight sell first, and leaving it late rarely pays. The day of the week matters too: midweek departures usually sit below Friday and Sunday ones. Fares bottom out in January; around Christmas and in the summer school-holiday weeks they climb, so those dates need the most forward planning. The calendar on the page covers October through July, which is enough to see how sharply the season moves the total.

Connections only enter the picture if you build them yourself: Wizz Air Malta and Easyjet both fly the route nonstop, so a one-stop itinerary you come across usually amounts to two separate tickets stitched together, and the risk of a missed follow-on is yours. Both are low-cost carriers, and the fare shows it: the seat is the product, with hold luggage, cabin baggage beyond the basic allowance and seat selection as extras. Compare them with your bags priced in, and check which of the city's departure airports each uses on your date before you build the day around it.

Tirgu Mures airport works on a different scale from the terminals you leave behind in the United Kingdom: a single compact building, short walks, and you are usually outside again soon after the bags arrive. The airport sits a short drive from the centre — the usual way in is a taxi or a transfer booked in advance, so agree the price before setting off and check whether the driver takes cards. Timing is the thing to watch: the ways into town thin out late in the evening, so if you land after dark, arrange the onward trip before you fly.

Country facts: Wikidata

• If a fare shows a stop, read it as two separate tickets — a late first flight puts the second at risk, and no one rebooks you.
• Check which London airport your date leaves from — the five options differ in travel time and in the carriers that use them.
• Compare fares with your bags added, since low-cost basic tickets usually leave out hold luggage.
• Read each carrier's cabin-bag rules rather than assuming your usual carry-on is free on both.
• Check Romania's entry rules for UK passports before you book, including the validity your document needs.
• Christmas and the summer school holidays fill early, so book those first; January rarely needs the same hurry.
