Cheap flights from Larnaca to Madrid

December is the cheapest month on this route, so start your search there, then widen the dates if your plans are fixed. Prices still move with school holidays, Christmas and the summer travel period, and weekday departures are often easier to price than weekend ones. If you can shift by a day or two, compare several dates around your target rather than accepting the first fare you see.

Wizz Air and Wizz Air Malta are the low-cost names here, while Aegean Airlines, Austrian, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Serbia are full-service carriers; Sky Express, Israir, Edelweiss Air and Eurowings Discover need a closer look at what each fare includes. Direct flights are available, but many itineraries connect, and a connection on one ticket is protected differently from two separate tickets. Low-cost base fares often exclude checked baggage and seat choice, whereas full-service fares usually include more, so compare the total price of the journey rather than the headline fare alone.

Barajas is a large airport, so allow time for walking between terminals and for baggage reclaim before you head into Madrid. Metro, train, bus and taxi links all run into the city, and the best choice depends on your terminal, luggage and arrival time. Check which terminal your flight uses, because transfer times vary, and at night a taxi or pre-booked car may be simpler than public transport.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check the departure and arrival airports on your ticket, because Larnaca has one airport while Barajas has several terminals.
• Add checked baggage and seat selection to low-cost fares before you pay, because adding them later usually costs more.
• Carry a valid passport or accepted travel document for Spain, and check visa rules for your nationality.
• If your itinerary connects, confirm the whole journey is on one ticket so a missed connection is protected.
• For December or summer travel, compare several dates, because the cheapest month's average can hide expensive days.
