Cheap flights from A Coruna to Krakow

November is the cheapest month on this route, and the fares listed for it sit below the rest of the year. The months with prices here run from September through February, plus May, so autumn and winter are when the deals are. Midweek departures from La Coruna are quieter than Friday and Sunday, when weekenders fill the planes. Skip the days around Christmas and New Year, when both Galicia and Krakow travel heavily, and watch Polish holidays in May, which push fares up.

Nothing here is nonstop, so every itinerary pairs two legs. Volotea, Easyjet and Vueling are the low-cost names on the route, which means the fare covers your seat and a small cabin bag and little else. Iberia, Air Europa, its regional brand Air Europa express, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines sell the journey as one connecting ticket through their own networks, so your bags are checked through and a delay on the first leg is the airline's problem, not yours. On two separate low-cost tickets, it is yours.

Krakow's gateway is Balice, the airport named after the village beside it, sitting outside the city rather than in it. A train and local buses link the terminal with the centre, and taxis and ride-hailing cars wait outside arrivals; most people heading for the main station take the train. Give yourself room on the way back, as Balice gets busy with seasonal traffic and security queues build at the start and end of the day. If your connection routes you through Warsaw instead, the onward journey to Krakow is a long one, so read the ticket carefully.

• Confirm that La Coruna is the airport on your ticket, since the city has only one and a different Galician gateway means a different search.
• Read what the low-cost fare includes, as Volotea, Easyjet and Vueling charge separately for checked bags and seat selection.
• Decide between one ticket and two, because on separate bookings a missed connection is your cost, not the airline's.
• Carry a valid passport or identity card for Poland and check the entry rules for your nationality before you pay.
• Book early for November if you want the lowest fares, and compare midweek dates against the weekend.
