Cheap flights from Krakow to San Antonio

May is the cheapest month to fly this route, and the price calendar also carries dates from September through January, so late spring and the quieter weeks of autumn and winter are worth comparing side by side. Summer school holidays and the run-up to Christmas push fares up on both sides of the Atlantic, so book those trips early. Midweek departures from Krakow tend to be calmer than Friday and Sunday, and Tuesday or Wednesday long-haul legs often cost less than weekend ones. If your dates are fixed, watch the calendar for a few weeks before you commit.

Every airline flying between Krakow and San Antonio is a full-service carrier, so there is no budget option to weigh against them: British Airways, Finnair, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, Austrian and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. None of them flies the route non-stop, so what separates them is where you change planes and how long you wait. Each airline routes you through its own European hub, and the layover can be short or long depending on the day. Fares on full-service tickets usually include a checked bag, but the allowance depends on the fare family you pick, so read the rules before you pay.

San Antonio International sits a short drive north of downtown, so a taxi or a rideshare gets you downtown in a matter of minutes rather than hours. There is no rail link from the terminal; buses run into town but are slower and less direct with luggage. If San Antonio is your first stop on American soil, you clear immigration and customs here before you collect your bags. If you connect through another US airport first, you clear border control there and re-check your bag for the final hop. Either way, keep your onward details handy and leave room in your hand luggage for the paperwork.

• Check which airport you fly from: Krakow uses Balice for every departure on this route.
• Compare layover lengths, not just fares, because every itinerary changes planes in Europe.
• Confirm what the fare includes, since baggage allowance on these full-service tickets varies by fare family.
• If you book the European leg and the long haul separately, leave a generous buffer for delays.
• Sort your US entry paperwork before you pay, with a valid passport and the required travel authorisation.
• Check the price calendar and favour May if your dates are flexible, with autumn and winter as fallbacks.
