Cheap flights from Krakow to Praya

September is the cheapest month on this route, and the price calendar carries fares from September through December and again from March to May. The weeks in between fall in the European winter escape season, when tickets to Indonesia tend to climb. Flying out midweek from Krakow usually costs less than a weekend departure, and splitting the trip across two airlines can beat a single through-fare. If you can travel in the cheapest month, book a few months ahead; if your dates sit near Christmas or New Year, compare a day either side before you commit.

There is no low-cost carrier on this route; the airlines that show up are full-service, and every one of them means at least one connection. LOT Polish Airlines is the usual first leg out of Krakow, with Turkish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and Finnair handling the long haul through their own hubs. Fly Dubai, Air Baltic, Air Dolomiti and Lufthansa Cityline appear on some combinations too. What differs is what the fare covers: a light ticket may leave a checked bag out, while a standard one usually includes it, so compare the total, not just the headline fare.

You land at Lombok International Airport, the island's main gateway, which sits near Praya itself rather than up in the resort strip. The drive into Praya is short; the beach towns and the boat piers for the Gili islands take much longer, so plan your transfer around where you are actually staying. Metered taxis, pre-booked transfers, hotel shuttles and ride-hailing apps all work, though ride-hailing pickups can be restricted to certain points. Have some local cash ready for the ride, and expect queues at immigration when several wide-body arrivals land together.

• Krakow has one airport, Balice, so check your departure terminal and allow time for the drive from the city.
• Every leg here is a connection, so confirm whether your bags are checked through to Praya or you collect them in between.
• If you book the two legs on separate tickets, leave a long buffer at the transfer airport in case the first flight runs late.
• Check what your fare includes, since a light ticket may not cover a checked bag on every leg of the trip.
• Confirm your passport is valid well past your return date and check Indonesia's entry rules before you pay.
