Cheap flights from Krakow to Naples

December is the cheapest month on this route, so if your dates are flexible, that is where to start. Prices are listed for every month from September through August, which makes it easy to see how far the summer and the shoulder weeks sit from that low point. Winter travel outside the holidays tends to be calmer, while the run from spring into summer is the busier stretch. Fares also shift from one weekday to the next, so compare a midweek departure against a weekend one before you book. If you want to travel around the winter holidays, book earlier rather than later.

Low-cost carriers do most of the work here: Wizz Air, Ryanair and Wizz Air Malta. The full-service names on the route — LOT Polish Airlines, Austrian, KLM Cityhopper, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air Serbia and Scandinavian Airlines — often mean a connection through a hub and a longer travel day. Mokulele Flight Service also shows up in the listings. What a fare includes differs between the two groups, so read the conditions attached to your ticket before you pay, especially if you plan to travel with more than a cabin bag.

Flights land at Capodichino Airport, the airport that serves Naples and sits close to the city centre rather than out in the countryside. That means a short ride into town instead of a long transfer, with buses and taxis the usual options at the arrivals door. Check which of them runs at your arrival time, especially for a late landing, and confirm where your accommodation is before you get in a car. On the way back, allow extra time: the roads around Naples can be slow, and the security queues at Capodichino build through the morning.

• Check what your low-cost fare includes for baggage, then add a checked bag to the total before you compare.
• If your itinerary connects, check whether it is one ticket or two, because separate tickets leave you to fix a missed leg.
• Bring a valid passport or identity card for Italy and check the entry rules that apply to you.
• December is the cheapest month here, but fares move week to week, so compare a few dates before booking.
