Cheap flights from Krakow to Lanzarote

January is the cheapest month to fly this route, and the price calendar covers the rest of the year, from September right through to spring and again in July. Lanzarote lives on winter sun, so demand climbs around Christmas, New Year and the school breaks, and those weeks are the ones to sidestep if your dates are flexible. Midweek departures from Balice are quieter than weekend ones, and outside the holidays a few weeks of lead time is usually enough. Book early for the winter months and leave the spontaneous trip for January.

Nothing flies non-stop, so every option is a connection, and the airline list reflects that. The low-cost names on this route are Wizz Air, Easyjet, Jet2 and Norwegian International: they sell the seat on its own, with bags and seat choice added separately, so compare what each ticket actually includes. British Airways, KLM Cityhopper, Air Europa, Eurowings, Air Baltic and Helvetic Airways sell connections through their own hubs on a single ticket, which means the airline sorts out a missed connection for you. Book the legs separately and that protection is yours to manage.

The island has one airport, Lanzarote, on the east coast near Arrecife, a short transfer from the main resorts. Taxis, the local bus and pre-booked shuttles are the usual ways into town, and car hire desks sit in the terminal if you want to explore the island at your own pace. Because you are connecting, check whether your bag is checked through to Lanzarote or whether you collect it at the change of plane and drop it again, since on separate tickets you always collect and re-check. Keep your onward boarding pass handy and allow time for the walk between gates.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Krakow departures leave from Balice, so confirm the airport before you pick a connection.
• On a low-cost ticket, check what the cabin baggage allowance includes and whether you need to add a checked bag.
• If the legs are booked separately, leave a generous gap between them in case the first flight runs late.
• Carry a valid passport or identity card for Spain and check the current entry rules before you fly.
• Lanzarote is busiest around the winter sun season and the school holidays, so book earlier if you travel then.
• Compare a single-ticket connection with two separate bookings before you commit.
