Cheap flights from Krakow to Katowice

November is the cheapest month on this route, and it sits in the middle of the window from September to February when fares are published. Late autumn and winter are the quiet stretch: the run-up to Christmas and New Year lifts demand, school breaks do the same, and the weeks between them stay calm. Midweek departures are usually lighter than Friday and Sunday, when people travel home. Watch the price calendar rather than guessing — on a connecting itinerary the total moves with the whole journey, not just the short leg.

Every carrier listed here is a full-service or regional airline rather than a low-cost one: LOT Polish Airlines, Austrian, Lufthansa, Swiss, Scandinavian Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Braathens Regional Aviation. That changes what you compare. On these airlines the fare brand decides whether a checked bag, a seat choice or a change is included, so two tickets at a similar price can cover very different things. Because the route connects, an itinerary can mix carriers, and each one applies its own baggage rules — read the allowance for the whole journey, not just the first flight.

You land at Katowice Airport at Pyrzowice, the only airport serving the city, and it sits well outside the centre rather than on its edge. Ground transport into Katowice is typically a shuttle bus or a taxi, so allow time if you have a train or a meeting waiting. Because your itinerary connects, ask at the first check-in whether your bag is checked through to Pyrzowice — on some tickets you collect it at the hub and hand it over again. On the Krakow side, Balice is the only departure airport, so there is no second airport to compare.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check your connection time at the hub — a missed link on one ticket is the airline's problem, on separate tickets it is yours.
• Confirm what your fare brand includes; a checked bag and a seat choice are not automatic on these carriers.
• If you buy each leg separately, leave a generous buffer and plan to collect and re-check your bag.
• This is a domestic flight inside Poland, so bring a valid ID document that has not expired.
• Check the price calendar before fixing dates: November is the cheapest month, and fares are published from September to February.
• Balice is Krakow's only airport, so there is no alternative departure point to compare.
