Cheap flights Krakow to Bologna

November is the cheapest month to fly this route, so if your dates are flexible, build the trip around it. Spring and early autumn are pleasant but busier, while high summer and the Christmas period push fares up at both ends. Midweek departures, Tuesday and Wednesday in particular, usually cost less than Friday or Sunday flights, and early morning or late evening departures tend to undercut midday ones. Book a few weeks ahead for the low-cost carriers, and earlier still if you want a full-service ticket with a connection.

Ryanair, Wizz Air and Wizz Air Malta are the low-cost names on this route, so expect a bare ticket and an extra charge for a checked bag or a chosen seat. Norwegian International and Mokulele Flight Service also show up among the options. LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Air France, Air Dolomiti and Austrian are the full-service carriers, usually routing you through a hub with a fare that includes a cabin bag and often a checked one. Direct flights exist here, but not every airline listed flies non-stop, so read the itinerary before you compare totals.

You land at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi, the airport for the city, and the transfer into the centre is short rather than a long haul. The usual ways in are the shuttle bus, the rail link to the main station and taxis; the bus is the budget option and a taxi puts you at your door. Check where your onward transport leaves from, and if you arrive late, confirm the last shuttle or train before you commit, because timetables thin out in the evening. Heading out, Krakow departures use Balice, so give your transfer to the airport the same attention.
