Cheap flights from Heraklion to Madrid

Prices rise during peak summer travel and around holiday periods when demand climbs across Europe. March offers lower costs compared with those busier stretches of the calendar. Booking well ahead tends to secure better rates than waiting until closer to departure, especially for weekend flights or periods that coincide with school breaks in either country.

Low-cost carriers like Volotea, Wizz Air Malta, Transavia France, Transavia Airlines, and Easyjet typically charge extra for checked baggage on this route. Vueling Airlines and Aegean Airlines operate as full-service options where more is included at standard fares. Sky Express, Olympic Air, Edelweiss Air, and others also connect passengers through their respective hubs before reaching Madrid.

Arriving late into Barajas means public transport frequency drops while taxis become the main option. The airport sits north of Madrid centre with regular metro and bus services running most hours. Budget time to allow for luggage collection, passport control if required, and transfers between terminals or ground transport connections before heading to your accommodation.
