Cheap flights from Helsinki to Poznan

Fares on this route tend to drop in November, and that is the month to aim for if your dates are flexible. September and October still hold on to late-summer prices, while December, January and February bring the holiday rush and colder, less predictable weather in both Helsinki and Poznan. March and May are quieter again. Midweek departures usually cost less than Friday or Sunday flights, and booking a few weeks ahead helps on a connecting route where the cheap seats sell out first. If you are travelling over Christmas or New Year, book early, those dates fill up.

Every flight between Helsinki and Poznan involves a stop, and the airline you pick decides where you change. Finnair, Scandinavian Airlines, Lufthansa City Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are network carriers, so their fares bundle more than a bare seat. Nordic Regional Airlines, Braathens Regional Aviation and Cityjet fly regional legs that feed those hubs, so they often appear on part of the journey. Eurowings sits at the budget end of the mix, where the fare covers the seat and extras cost more, so add bags and seat choice before comparing totals. One ticket protects you if a connection runs late; separate tickets do not.

Poznan Lawica is the airport you land at, and it sits a short ride from the city centre, so the transfer is quick whichever way you go. City buses run between the terminal and the centre through the day, and taxis and ride-hailing cars wait outside arrivals; a taxi is the easiest option if you land late. Because every flight from Helsinki connects, you may arrive on the last leg of a long day, so check the bus timetable before you book a late landing. Keep some local currency or a card ready for the bus, and note that the airport is small, so baggage usually comes out quickly.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check that your Helsinki departure leaves from Vantaa and that the terminal matches your booking.
• Confirm what your fare includes on the budget-style tickets, since a cabin bag may cost extra.
• If you book the legs on separate tickets, allow a long connection, because a missed flight is not protected.
• Carry valid travel documents for Poland and make sure the name on the ticket matches your ID.
• Aim for November if your dates are open, and use the price calendar to compare the months around it.
• Look at the transfer time at the hub rather than the total journey, since short winter connections are the ones that go wrong.
