Cheap flights from Geneva to Baku

December and January are the expensive stretch around Christmas and New Year, while July falls in Baku's summer. By contrast, November is the cheapest month in the dated fares. Midweek departures are often cheaper than weekend ones, and an early or late flight can help too. If you must travel in the winter, book as soon as your dates are fixed; for November, a few weeks of lead time is usually enough.

On Easyjet, Pegasus, Vueling Airlines and Ajet, the headline fare usually buys only the seat, with bags, seat selection and meals as add-ons; on Swiss, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Qatar Airways more is usually included, though fare families still vary. Sun Express appears on the same list, so check its fare rules before you assume anything is included. Every carrier on this route connects somewhere, so compare total travel time and the risk of a missed connection, not just the fare. Check whether hold baggage, a meal or seat choice matter for you before you sort by price.

Heydar Aliyev International lies outside central Baku, and the usual ways in are the airport bus, taxis and ride-hailing. The transfer can feel long in heavy traffic, especially at peak times, so allow time before an appointment or onward train. If you land late, check that your chosen transport still runs; taxis are available around the clock but agree the fare or use the meter. Keep some local currency or a working card for the ride, and have your accommodation address ready in writing.

• Check whether your itinerary is one ticket or two separate bookings, because a missed connection on separate tickets is your problem.
• If you book separate tickets, allow a generous buffer in Geneva or at the connection airport.
• Compare baggage rules before paying, since low-cost fares often charge for cabin bags as well as checked ones.
• Check passport validity and any visa requirement for Azerbaijan before you book.
• Look at November dates first if price matters most.
• Recheck the fare on the day you buy, because prices move.
