Cheap flights from Stockholm

Cheap flights from Stockholm leave from two airports, Arlanda and Skavsta International, and the route map leans east and south: Krakow, Warsaw, Gdansk, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest and Chisinau sit alongside Paris, Madrid and Amsterdam. Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian International cover the Nordic and European network, while Ryanair, Air Baltic, Eurowings, Air Serbia and Transavia France fill in the city breaks.

Airports — Stockholm

Stockholm departs from two airports, and they are not interchangeable. Arlanda is the main gateway, north of the city and linked by rail and bus, and most departures leave from there. Skavsta International sits well south of town and is the smaller, low-cost end of the pair. Check your booking before you set off: the two are far apart, and turning up at the wrong one costs you the flight.

When to go

Departures from Stockholm follow the Swedish calendar. July is the big one, when Midsummer and the summer holidays send half the country south and fares to the Mediterranean and the Baltic cities climb with them. Christmas, Easter and the February sports break do the same over shorter windows. Late autumn and the weeks after school starts again in August are calmer, and so is late January, when few people are thinking about flying.
