Cheap flights from Edinburgh to Sofia

Travel during the peak holiday periods and school breaks will cost more, especially when families head out in summer and during the festive season. Prices begin to ease as the year turns, and you will find the lowest fares landing in October. You can track fares across the warmer months and the colder ones, but aiming for the autumn window usually gives you the best value. Book early for the high season, but you have plenty of time to secure a good rate for the quieter periods.

Several carriers operate this route, including Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, and Norwegian, which focus on direct point-to-point travel. If you prefer a longer journey with more comfort, you can fly with Lufthansa, Lufthansa City Airlines, Vueling Airlines, Aegean Airlines, BA CityFlyer, or Sun Express. The full-service carriers often route through connecting hubs, adding a layover but including checked baggage and meals in the ticket. Budget operators usually charge extra for seats and luggage, so you will need to add those extras before you finalise the price.

You should sort out your transport from Sofia Airport before you touch down, since the city centre is only a short drive away. Regular bus services and taxis run straight into the downtown area, and you can also catch a train from the nearby station. If your flight connects through another city, remember to check the transfer time and whether you need to collect your bags. The airport itself is compact and straightforward, making it easy to clear customs and head straight for your next step.
