Cheap flights from Chongqing to Barcelona

Barcelona's summer evenings run long and winter daylight is short, and December is the cheapest month in the calendar shown; if you want long evenings, compare the summer months, which cost more than December. If your dates are fixed by school holidays or Christmas, prices are less forgiving, so book as early as you can; compare a midweek departure against a weekend one in the price calendar, and check whether arriving a day earlier or later saves money.

No flight on this route is nonstop, so every option has at least one connection; compare total travel time, number of stops and layover length rather than the headline fare alone. The carriers listed are Qatar Airways, Shenzhen Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Sichuan Airlines. What is included varies by fare: some tickets bundle a checked bag on the long-haul leg, others do not, so read the fare rules before paying. If you are combining separate tickets, leave a generous buffer, because a missed connection becomes your problem.

From the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona - airport, trains, metro, buses and taxis all run into central Barcelona; the airport bus is easier with luggage, while the rail link costs less and takes longer. The airport sits south-west of the centre, so allow transfer time after a long journey. If you land late, check night transport before you arrive; keep a working card or some cash for the first ride; and confirm your terminal, because not every service serves both.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Check Spain entry and visa rules for your passport, including any transit visa needed for a connection country.
• Confirm the baggage allowance on every leg, because a long-haul fare may not match the feeder flight.
• Verify the departure and arrival airports printed on your ticket, since the only departure airport listed is Chongqing and the only arrival airport listed is Josep Tarradellas Barcelona -.
• Compare connection times and total journey length, not only the fare, before you pay.
• Check whether separate tickets leave you enough time to recheck bags and clear security.
• Keep a margin for delays if you are self-connecting, because a missed onward flight is at your own cost.
