Cheap flights from Bydgoszcz to London

November is when fares on this route tend to sit at their lowest, and the price calendar covers September through March plus May. Autumn and late winter are the quiet stretches; the run-up to Christmas and the school holidays push fares up, so book earlier if you are travelling then. Midweek departures are usually calmer than Friday evenings and Sunday nights, when people fly home. If your dates are flexible, start with November and work outwards from there.

Ryanair is the low-cost name on the route, and its fares are built up from extras: hand luggage, a checked bag and a seat all add to the base ticket. LOT Polish Airlines is the full-service Polish carrier, Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cityline are the full-service German options, and Mokulele Flight Service also appears among the carriers listed for these dates. Full-service tickets generally include a checked bag and a seat you can choose, which is why a slightly higher fare can work out better once bags are added. Direct and connecting options both show up in the results, so compare total journey time, not just the departure time.

London is served by five airports on this route, Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Luton and Stansted, and which one you land at shapes your whole trip. London City is the closest to the centre, with the Docklands and the City within easy reach. Heathrow sits west of town and is well connected by rail and underground. Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are further out and depend on trains and coaches, so add the transfer to your day before you book. Check the airport name on your ticket rather than the city name, and remember that a late arrival can leave you with a thin choice of trains into town.

Country facts: Wikidata

• Bydgoszcz has a single airport, so check that your ticket leaves from Bydgoszcz itself and not from a larger Polish hub.
• On a low-cost fare, add the cabin bag and the checked bag before you compare the total with a full-service ticket.
• If your trip is built from separate tickets, leave a generous gap, because nobody rebooks you for free after a missed connection.
• Check passport and entry rules for the United Kingdom before you pay.
• Pick your London airport deliberately: Heathrow and London City for the centre, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted further out.
• Avoid the Christmas run-up and the school breaks, and start your search with November.
