Cheap flights from Berlin to London

Demand on this route follows the calendar: school holidays, Christmas and London's summer can all lift fares, so those periods need earlier planning even when July is the cheapest month in the calendar. Weekday and weekend prices can differ, and the price calendar shows dated fares for every month from October to September. If your dates are flexible, compare several adjacent days before you book, because the lowest fare may sit on a less obvious date. Let the calendar rather than a rule of thumb guide the final choice.

The difference you feel first is between an unbundled fare and a more inclusive one: some tickets include only the seat and charge extra for bags, seats and priority, while others include more in the base fare. Ryanair, Easyjet, EasyJet Europe, Wizz Air, Wizz Air Malta, Eurowings, Norwegian International, Condor, Jet2 and British Airways all appear on this route, and direct flights are available. Because several carriers sell extras separately, compare the total cost of the same bag and seat before choosing. On a short hop, the cheapest base fare can stop being the cheapest once extras are added.

If you land late, check whether your airport still has rail or coach links into central London before you rely on them. London City is the closest to the centre, Heathrow and Gatwick are farther out, and Luton and Stansted are the farthest of the five. Each airport has public transport into town, but the last services and journey times vary by airport and by day. Watch for the airport name on your ticket, since a late change of airport can add a long transfer.

• Check which London airport your booking names, because the five are spread across different parts of the region.
• Check whether your fare includes checked baggage, cabin size and seat choice before you pay.
• Check connection and ticket rules if your itinerary is not a single nonstop ticket.
• Check passport and entry requirements for the United Kingdom before you travel.
• Check dated fares across adjacent days, because July is the cheapest month in the calendar but prices still move.
