Cheap flights from Amsterdam to Warsaw

January is the cheapest month on this route, and it is also the quietest: the Christmas rush is over and few people are thinking about Poland in the cold. From spring onward fares climb, and they stay high through the summer holidays and again in December, when everyone travels at once. If your dates are flexible, look at midweek and Saturday departures, which are usually lighter than Friday evenings and Sunday nights. Booking a few months ahead helps in peak season; for a January trip you can often leave it much later.

The route mixes low-cost and full-service carriers. Easyjet, Transavia Airlines and Norwegian sell the seat first and charge for extras — a checked bag, a seat next to your travel companion, priority boarding. Warsaw has two airports, and which one you land at changes your arrival. F. Chopin is the main one and the closer to the centre, with trains, buses and taxis doing the run into town in a short time. Modlin sits well outside the city to the north and mostly handles low-cost traffic; from there you take a coach or a shuttle bus to the centre or to the rail station, and the transfer takes noticeably longer. Check your ticket carefully — a low-cost fare may land at Modlin when you expected Chopin, and the two are not interchangeable. If you land late, plan the transfer in advance, as services thin out overnight.
