Peretola FLR
Peretola is Florence's only commercial airport, so cheap flights from Florence all route through FLR. The popular runs are short hops to San Sebastian, Valencia, Bilbao, Olbia, Palermo, Oviedo, Hamburg and Prague, and with no second city airport the terminal stays compact. Fly at school-holiday times or around Christmas and fares climb early, so book ahead for those dates and avoid the first wave of morning departures if queues bother you. On ordinary midweek dates you can often leave booking later, though thinning weekday schedules outside summer may remove the convenient flight.

Getting to the city
The cheapest way into Florence is public transport from the terminal, with a short walk or transfer for the last stretch if your stay sits outside the centre. A taxi saves time outside peak hours, while a pre-booked car makes sense for late or very early arrivals when services thin out. Avoid unlicensed drivers touting in arrivals and last-minute airport taxis during fairs or events, and allow buffer time for Sunday or holiday travel.
