Ngurah Rai DPS

Ngurah Rai, the DPS airport, is where flights from Denpasar Bali land, and it serves the whole island rather than the city alone. It sits on the narrow isthmus at Bali's southern neck, close to Kuta, Legian and Seminyak and further from Ubud and the northern coast. Domestic Indonesian routes and international services both use it. Travellers flying from here look at European cities such as Warsaw, Chisinau, Istanbul, Budapest, Vienna, Frankfurt, Bucharest and Krakow.

Getting to the city

The airport sits on the isthmus at the southern neck of Bali, so the run into Denpasar, Kuta and Seminyak is short, while Ubud and the north take considerably longer. Official taxis, ride-hailing pick-ups and hotel shuttles all work from the arrivals area; agree the fare or check the meter before you set off. Traffic on the bypass builds through the afternoon and again in the evening, so leave a buffer if you have a flight to catch. Ignore drivers who approach you inside the terminal and book through a counter or an app instead.
